After finishing my studies, I gained the skills needed to be the first point of contact as a receptionist or administrative assistant in any setting. I am capable of providing a high-quality service to both the company and the visitors I am assisting. I will achieve this by carefully listening to the visitor and providing an informative response, whether over the phone or in person. I gained some experience in this role while working as an administrative assistant, which allowed me to practise answering phones and organising files. I am well prepared to greet visitors, answer questions, give directions, and manage appointments.

ACTIVITIES

DofE volunteering – D of E was a valuable experience that allowed me to hone a variety of skills, including effective communication, time management and team work with my group. During the expedition we were dropped off in an unfamiliar location without phones and had to find our way back to our base camp using only maps and compasses. This task was completed successfully because we collaborated with each other, remained calm and made decisions after carefully evaluating the situation.  During this task I was proactive and displayed leadership qualities by putting my opinions forward and persuading the team members to follow my directions even though everyone was physically exhausted and found themselves in a stressful situation. This event taught me how to work with a variety of people as well as improving my time management skills within the time constraints of the task.

NCS – During the volunteering event of NCS I worked with a group of strangers to raise funds for our chosen charity. We decided to host a large event in which we would sell baked goods and hold activities such as raffles and games. The event had to be planned and run over a period of five days, which meant we had to work quickly and efficiently to plan and execute this event. As part of the planning we contacted a local community centre and negotiated the venue free of cost. This experience taught me how important it is to stay organised, work with a range of people as well as making decisions within a tight frame. We were able to raise approximately £400 for the charity, which included fund raising in the community, which required me to communicate with the general public.
